Pengaruh Pemberian Prostaglandin F2 Alpha Terhadap Waktu Kemunculan Birahi dan Keberhasilan Inseminasi Buatan Sapi Brahman Cross (Bx) Heifers

Abstract


This study was conducted to examine the effect of PGF2α injection on onset oestrus and pregnancy rate of Brahman Cross (BX) heifer at Breeding Unit of PT. Pasir Tengah, Cianjur-West Java. Oestrus synchronization was carried out by intramuscular injection of 5 ml of the synthetic PGF2α in active corpus luteum phase. Oestrus observed 24 hours after PGF2α injection. Artificial insemination with frozen semen was conducted 8h after observed estrous. The material used in this research were 40 heifers given a PGF2α injection and 40 heifers without injection. The method used is experimental design, if there were a significant result, continued tested by Chi-square method. The variable observed were onset estrous (every 4 hours after PGF2α injection), characteristic of estrous (visual characteristic in estrous condition) and conception rate. The result showed that oestrus response or degree of synchronizing after PGF2α injection was good. 21 heifers were shown onset estrous mostly on days-30 until days-40 after 5 ml injection. The other hand, PGF2α has no effect on pregnancy rate. Pregnancy rate was found 53% for heifers with PGF2α injection and 63% for heifers without PGF2α injection, Determination Pregnancy rate was performed by using Non-Return Rate score.
